A wrong MCQ answer costs one-third of its marks (−⅓ for a 1-mark question, −⅔ for a 2-mark question). MSQ and numerical (NAT) questions have no negative marking, and an MSQ earns marks only when every correct option is chosen.

Computer Science & Information Technology (CS)
RevisedComputer Networks is cut down to its core, and Digital Logic and Computer Organization now ask for design (ALU, control unit, memory interfacing) rather than just concepts.
GATE 2027 CS syllabus and weightageCivil Engineering (CE)
RevisedThe biggest change among the subjects we cover: structural analysis is reorganised, water resources, environmental, transportation and surveying gain topics, and Construction Materials and Management becomes its own section.
GATE 2027 CE syllabus and weightageMechanical Engineering (ME)
RevisedMostly additions: two-degree-of-freedom vibration, control basics, combustion, additive manufacturing, automation and quality topics.
GATE 2027 ME syllabus and weightageAerospace Engineering (AE)
RevisedFlight Mechanics and Space Dynamics are merged (six sections become five), numerical methods move into the core topics, Fanno and Rayleigh flow become special topics, and several advanced special topics are dropped.

On 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21 February 2027, in two sessions a day: forenoon 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM and afternoon 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. IIT Madras announces which paper is on which day.
Which institute is organising GATE 2027?
IIT Madras is the organising institute for GATE 2027. The official website is https://gate2027.iitm.ac.in.
When will the GATE 2027 results be announced?
On 19 March 2027, in the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS), according to the official brochure.
Has the GATE 2027 syllabus changed?
Yes, for most papers. Among the subjects Lemyte covers, Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, Mechanical, Civil and Aerospace were revised; Electrical Engineering and Data Science & AI have no topic changes. Each subject page lists what was added and removed.
What is the GATE 2027 exam pattern?
A 3-hour computer-based test in English with 65 questions for 100 marks (General Aptitude 15 marks, subject 85 marks), using MCQ, MSQ and numerical answer questions. A wrong MCQ answer costs one-third of its marks (−⅓ for a 1-mark question, −⅔ for a 2-mark question). MSQ and numerical (NAT) questions have no negative marking, and an MSQ earns marks only when every correct option is chosen.
Is there a new paper in GATE 2027?
Yes. GATE 2027 has 30 papers, including the new Robotics and Automation (RA) paper. Textile Engineering & Fibre Science becomes part of Engineering Sciences (XE9).
