Question 37 · Computer Networks · MCQ · 2 marks

Which one of the following CIDR prefixes exactly represents the range of IP addresses 10.12.2.0 to 10.12.3.255?

  • (A) 10.12.2.0/23Correct answer
  • (B) 10.12.2.0/24
  • (C) 10.12.0.0/22
  • (D) 10.12.2.0/22Your answer · −0.67

Worked solution

The range 10.12.2.0 to 10.12.3.255 is exactly two consecutive /24 networks, 10.12.2.0/24 and 10.12.3.0/24. Two consecutive /24 blocks combine into one /23 block, 10.12.2.0/23, so the answer is (A).

Why it matters

Testing yourself is how learning sticks

Notes and lectures feel productive. Tests show what will hold up on exam day.

  • Recalling beats rereading. Answering from memory makes it stick far better than reading your notes again (the testing effect).
  • See which topics cost you marks. A score says how you did. A topic-by-topic breakdown says what to do next.
  • Exam technique is a skill too. Pacing three hours, negative marks and the on-screen calculator all take practice, and it is better to get that practice in a mock than in the exam hall.
Putting it togetherAn example plan for the last eight weeks

Test, find the gaps, fix them, test again. Adjust it to your own timetable.

  1. Week 1One full past paper under exam conditions, as your baseline.
  2. Weeks 2–6Ten questions a day from your three weakest topics. One full paper each weekend.
  3. Weeks 7–8Two or three full papers a week, then a ranked test.
